How to Plant Rain Lily Bulbs

1. Choose the Right Spot

• Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade (at least 4–6 hours of sunlight daily).

• Location: Ideal for garden borders, lawns, or pots.

2. Prepare the Soil

• Use well-draining soil — rain lilies dislike waterlogging.

• Recommended mix:
  🌿 40% garden soil
  🌿 40% compost or cow dung manure
  🌿 20% river sand or cocopeat

3. Planting Depth & Spacing

• Depth: 1 to 2 inches deep (bulb tip slightly below the surface).

• Spacing: 3 to 4 inches apart if planting in ground or wide pots.

• Pointed end up, roots down.

4. Watering

• Water thoroughly after planting.

• Then water lightly every 2–3 days.

• Once the rainy season starts, nature takes over!

• Avoid overwatering in dormant months (winter).

5. Fertilizing

• Use a mild organic fertilizer or compost every 30–40 days during growth.

• Avoid high nitrogen — it promotes leaves, not flowers.

• Balanced NPK (10:10:10) or vermicompost works great.

6. Bloom & Dormancy Cycle

• Flowers appear after the first rain or good watering.

• Each flower lasts only a few days but blooms keep repeating.

• After blooming season, the foliage will yellow and die back — bulbs rest underground until the next rainy season.

Propagation

• Through offsets (baby bulbs) around the mother bulb.

• Separate and replant them once foliage dries up.

• They multiply quickly!
